Job Responsibilities: The Emerging Risk Models team at RMS develops solutions to assist clients in managing new and developing risks. Examples of such risks include terrorism, infectious disease, and liability risk. The primary role of the Emerging Risk Models team is to develop innovative but practical solutions our clients can operationalize. Such solutions begin with a concept, and are taken through full model and software development phases until there is a fully functional product solution available to our clients. We are looking for a quantitative individual to advance RMS' business in a variety of applications on the Emerging Risk Models team. This individual will be responsible for providing analytical support for model and product development as well as client consulting projects. From a development perspective, the analyst will utilize mathematical, statistical, and basic programming skills to help develop and validate models for health and longevity risk and other solutions as the need arises. In addition, client consulting projects will give the analyst the opportunity to apply these same skills in the context of a real-world application in which the analyst will participate in all phases of the consulting project from data preparation to analysis, reporting, and presentation. The Analyst will work closely with other RMS experts in a variety of fields including model development, product management, and consulting. The Analyst is a motivated individual who is willing to take initiative and further new initiatives at RMS. |

Job Requirements / Qualifications: The applicant must have: * BA/BS degree (advanced degree MS, PhD preferred) in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, biology, or an equivalent technical field * Ability to apply quantitative skills to contribute to the development of complex models and execution of consulting projects * Solid problem-solving skills, including those that require mathematical and statistical solutions * Ability to multi-task and work on concurrent projects * A high level of proficiency in data analysis including the ability to work with complex and large volumes of data * A natural curiosity and a strong interest in computational modeling Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: * Statistical software tools (e.g. SAS, STATA, R, Matlab) * Data analysis software tools (e.g. Excel, Access, SQL) * Programming languages (e.g. Fortran, C/C++, VB, VBA) * Insurance, annuities, or pensions * Medical terminology and medical literature |
